BYRON DAVIS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE (198TH DISTRICT)

(Philadelphia, PA) – On Thursday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m., Byron Davis announces his candidacy for State Representative for the 198th District at Holsey Temple CME Church on 5305 Germantown Avenue. (Ample parking is available and children are welcome.)

A progressive Democrat, Davis will be joined by supporters and community leaders from throughout the 198th District. At the February 7th announcement, Davis will receive a historic endorsement from a major labor union that has hundreds of members that live in the 198th District, an unprecedented coup for a challenger in a primary race against a 14-year incumbent.

“I am running for State Representative because we need to make a change to make a difference in the 198th District,” said Davis. “The 198th District is one of the most economically and geographically diverse districts in Pennsylvania. It encompasses Chestnut Hill, East Falls, Germantown, Logan, Nicetown, Tioga, and West Mt. Airy. It boasts multi-million dollar mansions as well as trash-strewn vacant lots. This district is a metaphor for society itself as displayed by the disparities, unfilled hopes and promises for communities that have not been represented and united during the incumbent’s unremarkable tenure, and our district deserves better.”

Raised by a single mother in public housing, Davis knows first-hand how the power of community can transform lives. A devoted husband, father, teacher, and community organizer, Davis believes that there are three keys to unlocking the door to prosperity for the 198th District: service; responsibility; and opportunity. With these three keys, Davis believes, “we can make a change to make a difference.”
